On Sunday, NNHS alum (and former Arkansas and New Mexico athlete) Chris Barnicle ran 1:02:43 to take 13th at Philly Rock and Rock Half-Marathon. That time qualifies him for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in January. It was Chris' debut at the half-marathon distance.
Also on Sunday, Jess Barton ran 17:19 for 24th woman at the CVS Downtown Pharmacy 5K and 2011 USATF 5k Championships.
With all the early cross-country meets this weekend, I'm sure there were other NNHS alumni results, but I didn't find any in my quick browsing.

Jon,
As you know, Chris has enormous physiological talent from the 1/2-marathon (60/2:07 type), and a lot of that is thanks to you as you were so instrumental in developing him properly in the early years. I'm sure he realizes and appreciates this.
Jess' 17:19 was a disaster as she's back to being anemic, which we found out she's been struggling with since her freshman year in HS thanks to her medical records. 12 days ago she was 13th at the USA 20k, but the heat and humidity - on top of increasingly more intense training for the Hartford half - put her over the top. The week before that she did 2 x 3 mile with me at 16:59/16:00 while holding a conversation. I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating it is to know you're in 16:00 shape but run 17:19 thanks to anemia. I'm letting you know this as in a comical way you always end-up posting her worst results, but overlook her good ones!
It's good to see you posting again and I hope all is well with you.

Congrats to Chris, a great debut at the distance as long as he stays healthy i know he can run a great marathon
Is tom coaching jess??
Wow, 16:00 for 3 miles while holding a conversation... Jeez, Jon, how come you didn't know to post about that run? How dare you post about her 1 minute PR?
More BS form the same guy who "covered the marathon course" in 2:08. Now, you're doing it to poor Jess. Why don't you ask her if she wants her training runs posted online.
Jon was being complementary towards his former athlete. Oh sorry, Jon, neither you, nor Peter Martin, nor Joe Tranchita can take any credit for Jess's high school success, that was all Tom.
Thanks for resurfacing, Tom.
^^
Dude, what the hell was that about?
I SHOULD have posted results from Jess's race at New Haven!
For the record then, Sept. 5, 2011, Jess competed at the New Haven 20K -- U.S. Championships -- and finished as 13th woman with net time of 1:13:59 (5:58 per mile). It was an impressive effort on a warm and humid day.
Having suffered from anemia myself in H.S., I know how it undermines the ability to train and race. I hope Jess can get the situation resolved so she can start feeling better again.
Can we get back to the good vibes and stop bickering about Tom's posts... Jon is back and I don't want him to go away again.
I have two great memories about Chris and Jess, and they both took place on our home course. Chris was going for a tempo in the NN-Weymouth race and just before it I whispered the course record to him, and he said very humbly, "oh, not today, I'm just gong to run easy and I have trainers on". Well, you might know who held our course record up to last year, Chris set it just about out of reach that day (Steve Sollowin did break it).
Jess did something similar, but I always loved her style of racing. She never sat and kicked, always went hard from the gun and knew how to really lead a race. So many girls get out and relax too much. Jess could push better than anyone.
Glad to see they are both in such good shape. I'm sure whatever is ailing Jess will be figured out.
Glad to see Jon back posting as well. I had given up on checking. I was still looking for the end of the travel journals.
I certainly hope Jon didn't stop posting because of the bickering.
Hope all is well.
Glad to see you posting again, John :)
That's a blazing half, wow!
