Jake Gleason Moves to #3 on All-Decade List

In the last decade (2001 to 2010), eight Newton North H.S. male runners have run sub-10:00 for the two miles indoors. This season Jake Gleason joined that group with a 9:52 against Brookline, and improved his PR to 9:45.24 in the DI State Championships. Here's how he stands on the all-decade list:

1. Chris Barnicle 9:01.45 (2/25/05)
2. Seb Putzeys 9:38.93 (1/10/08)
3. Jake Gleason 9:45.24 (2/20/10)
4. David Polgar 9:46.77 (2/03/05)
5. Tom Davis 9:51.57 (2/14/04)
6. Dan Hamilton 9:52.10 (2/21/09)
7. Dan Chebot 9:55.49 (12/18/04)
8. Doug Brecher 9:59.90 (12/18/05)

I saw that time yesterday and I was really impressed. Jake has been really taking care of business this season. Good work man.

Nice job jake. Also I agree with the first post, that would be pretty cool to see.

do you have the list for the 2 mile outdoors? I'd be really interested in seeing that.

I'm working on the outdoor 2M list, which includes at least a couple of hand-timed races from dual meets (much harder to track down).

Also working on an indoor and outdoor 1M list.

All of the events? Do you guys think I do this for a living?

It is painfully obvious why Dougie wants to see an outdoor 2m list: because he is much further up it (3rd?). Unfortunately for me, and most people probably aren't aware of this, Evan Morse will be ahead of me on this list. Our only outdoor 2m race senior year was a controlled time trial where he ran 9:55 to my 9:57 after Polgar and I paced him through 2800 meters. And Jon, don't worry about the pressure to produce lists for every event- it will only make people such as myself feel old and slow.

If you guys are old and slow, I don't even want to think about what I am.

(p.s.: how about an all-two-decade list for the 300IH and the 4x800?)

I'd also love to see an all-time list for the boys 2K-steeple performed in non-prime odd years, with an average water pit temperature of at least 40 degrees, run on red or blue tracks, with a field of no more than 10, within a week of a full moon. I'll give you until tomorrow.

Thanks a lot Jon.

Ankit -- I think you want to see that list only because you're ahead of Barnicle on it.
