With all the great indoor track going on (New Balance Indoor Grand Prix tonight at Reggie!!), you'll be forgiven if you've forgotten that the USA Cross Country Championships are today. The races -- Open and Junior Men and Women -- are being held in San Diego and serve as the team selection process for the World Cross Country Championships.
(There are also races for masters, but I don't believe they are used to select anything other than the really fast and fit masters.)
Be that as it may, there is a live webcast of at least some of the racing action, beginning at 12:45 pm. EST. Here's a link:

Newton North fans might have additional incentive to follow the action. In the 12K mens open race, NN alum Chris Barnicle will be attempting to make his second World XC team (his first as a senior; he qualified as a junior in 2006).

When did NB start to sponsor Chris Barnicle? It was a pleasant surprised to see that he was on one of the posters at the NBIGP tonight.
I believe he signed with New Balance in July of 2010, after completing his collegiate eligibility at UNM.
I didn't see him in the results. Did he end up competing?
